Where support happens
A support worker may assist with showering, dressing, grooming, toileting, mobility and meals at home. Assistance can also be planned around activities outside the home when personal care is needed during an outing.
Before we begin
Before support starts, we agree the tasks, times and worker skills with you. If continence, manual handling or medication needs are involved, we review the relevant care instructions and clinical input first.
Getting started with personal care
Personal care starts with a relaxed conversation about your routines, what you would like help with and what you prefer to do yourself.
We talk about timing, privacy, cultural or gender preferences for workers, and any equipment or health instructions we need to follow. Your first sessions are planned so you can get to know your support worker before we settle into a regular routine.
